We are the Erewash Phoenix Choir

The Erewash Phoenix Choir was created almost 20 years ago when a few friends got together in a family living room. It has now grown to a thirty strong choir with a schedule of rehearsals and performances throughout the year. We are always keen to meet to new members who would like to join us. Meet our Musical Director

Terry Clay hails from Heanor in Derbyshire. He started playing the piano aged six, and continued his education first at the local Grammar School, before being offered a place to study piano and viola at the Royal Manchester College of Music, graduating in 1962.

After graduation, Terry taught at Tupton  Hall Grammar School, before moving to Hertfordshire. He became became Musical director of Stevenage Male Voice Choir spending ten years with the choir, leading them to success in choral competition, TV and Radio performances, and singing for Royalty.

In 1976, work brought Terry back to the East Midlands and to Male Voice Choral singing once again.  Since his return 'home' he has used his musical experience to enhance the performances of a number of local Male Voice Choirs. He is currently Musical Director of Alfreton Male Voice Choir.

Terry is looking forward to sharing his musical experience with the Erewash Phoenix Choir, and to entertaining the local community. The choir is delighted to have him join us, and look forward to singing  and working with him to extend our repertoire and our skills under his guidance and that of our wonderful accompanist, Hilary Griffiths.
